Dream of Slime at Orlando’s Nick Hotel Helped Child Through Treatment
ORLANDO, Fla. (July 14, 2009) – Orlando’s Nickelodeon Suites Resort granted the 1,000th wish for The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Northeast New York as Zachary Bennett, a 9-year-old from Albany, New York, saw his dreams come true by meeting SpongeBob SquarePants and getting slimed.
Thinking about his wish helped Zachary, who was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis, a disease that causes tumors in various parts of the body, get through the challenges of treatment.
Zachary’s wish experience included the full array of Orlando area attractions. He visited the Walt Disney World® Resort, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and SeaWorld. However, the highlight of his trip was in early July when he met SpongeBob SquarePants and was slimed at Nickelodeon Family Suites. Dad, Randall Bennett, accompanied Zachary on the SLIME of his life and received a gooey green hug after his son’s dream became a reality.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northeast New York serves the 15 counties comprising the 518 area code. The chapter grants approximately 80 to 90 wishes each year and has granted more than 1,000 since 1986.
